In the fall of 2021, I was reintroduced to my Creative Spirit. I'd me her before... but this time? There was something different about it this time.

A few weeks later I found what makes my heart sing in these abstract messy florals. They are a beautifully imperfect and intuitive expression of the joys I find in the simple, small delights of the world around us. The tiny flowers, the texture details, the hidden life that is all around us, if only we'll slow down long enough to notice it.

One of a set of six florals created with a personal challenge to not use any black! (It was hard.)

Dusk and moonlight, endless fields awash with fireflies and buttercups. The smell of the river at night and a warm, gentle breeze.

Dancing through gravel,

     finding every nook and cranny

for a delicate footfall,

     roots reaching deep.

Finding simple joys in life,

     the first rays of morning sun,

a stranger's smile

     at the humble burst of color

     from simple weeds on the roadside.

Imagine exuberant fairies dancing in the rain, their twinkling laughter ricocheting off each raindrop in a scattering of joy and delight!

Evening gowns and starlight

     a twinkling in your eye.

Mountains.

     Oceans.

          Entire worlds between us.

To whisper in your ear,

     to gently brush your hand.

To hold you.

     Breathe you in.

          Trust you.

To see you once again.

Bonds beyond blood. 

     Facing the world together.
